Workstation kit
The academy is the class — atlas, CAD, seating, and occlusion run in the browser on a laptop or iPad. This Blender add-on is extra: the same syllabus for a CAD lab that already has workstations, and for anyone who needs a real sculpt brush and an STL out to a mill.
- 1Open Blender 4.2 or newer (the lab standard for this course).
- 2Edit → Preferences → Add-ons → Install from Disk.
- 3Choose dental_merlin.zip. Enable Dental Merlin.
- 4In the 3D View, press N. Open the Merlin tab.
- 5Add a teaching tooth, turn on landmark empties, and read the lesson in the sidebar.
What it adds to Blender
Add teaching tooth
Parametric incisor, canine, premolar, or molar with vertex groups for enamel, CEJ, occlusal, and roots.
Anatomy empties
Named empties on cusp tips, cingulum, fossae, and the CEJ so you can teach with the 3D cursor.
Sculpt starter
Subdivision, Dyntopo off, suggested brushes (Clay Strips, Scrape, Smooth) — the same order as the web studio.
Margin curve
Places a cyclic bezier on the finish-line height so students can practice a closed trace.
FDI / Universal overlay
Sidebar readout of the three numbering systems for the active tooth.
Lesson browser
The D1/D2 syllabus lives in the N-panel so a seminar room does not need the browser.
Seminar note
The web labs are the same ideas without a GPU driver fight. Use Blender when the class is ready for real sculpt brushes and an STL export into a mill or a printer. Neither tool replaces a wet-hand prep — they make the language of the prep visible.
Enable the add-on per machine, or drop the zip on a shared lab image. It does not phone home. Teaching teeth are generated on the fly; no mesh library to license.
